Wednesday 27th July

Am amazing day out on the Super Skippy sightseeing tour of the Atherton Tablelands.
Skippy took us to the crater at Mt Hypipamee which was a blow hole from a nearby volcano.
We then walked along by the Dinner Falls but a bit too cold to swim with the water running straight off the mountains.
Millaa Millaa falls were quite spectacular but no one was prepared to win a certificate for swimming in the cool pool beneath the waterfall.
Onto Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine again large craters caused by underground water being heated up and then exploded out of the ground.Saw a fresh water turtle which was a treat and of course lots of Bush Turkeys (Dad's favourite!!)
The curtain fig tree was also very impressive although George asked why they hadn't just planted a few more recently! Don't think he quite appreciated how old the tree was!

Back to the ranch and now I have to admit that I have done something silly!!!
Was determined to stay on the ripstick (wobbly skateboard) for longer than 1 second. Unfortunately, I have come off worse, damaging my foot so that I can barely walk on it!!
I survived the hockey but clearly need to learn when to grow up!

Paul and I cooked fajitas for everyone this evening (although I had to sit down to chop the veggies) Have started drinking cider and it seems to be going down well especially with a few ibuprofen!!

Time you lot sent us some replies. We miss you all. Xxxx

  1. Hi there - following your trip with great interest. It sounds like you are having a great time. We are looking forward to seeing you here in a couple of weeks, and it is definitely warm enough to swim, in fact in the water is the only place you'll be cool! Have fun in NZ and see you soon.

  2. Better get your foot better for all the walking we have planned here in NZ !! We don't want you slipping into the acid lakes and bubbling mud pools in Rorotua ..... You'll need your layers for here as only 11 degrees here at the moment.

  3. Hi - are you wanting us to go ahead and book accom for you all in Rotorua or would it be better to wait till you get here ?? Cost depends on luxury. Also do you have a car hire Co that you have been using ? How is the foot now ?? LOL Sue xx

  4. Hi Sue, am pleased to report that the foot is improving slowly. Managed to climb to the top of a bungy jump today but absolutely no way could I have jumped!
Can you get some prices for a large car then we may hire it from the airport cos that may be easier. Need to get 6 large cases in though! We did look into hiring a camper van so that might be another option even if we don't sleep in it.
Just been out for pizza and had our first view of the Opera house and the harbour. Beautiful xx

  5. Hi - where are you staying in Sydney ? Will investigate the car situ. May be better to hire from here as a horrible drive across Auckland to get here - and worse if you're not sure where to go or get lost. Do you have GPS with you ? Alison & Bill plus us 2 will come to airport to get you all - should fit into 2 cars .... ?

  6. Ok that sounds great. Should all get into 2 cars with our 6 bags!
Can hire a smaller car then if you don't mind taking us back to the airport as well?
Just walked our legs off around Sydney. We are staying in the Marriott at Circular Quay. Just had a swim in the indoor pool and probably going to finish the day with a hot choc! X
